Kathleen Linnes died January 17, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. Kathy was a Cincinnati, Ohio native. She is survived by her husband, Erhard (Eric) Linnes of Kingwood. She was drawn to "education" from her earliest years. She earned a B.A., 2 M.A.s and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas, Austin. Research in Paris led her to a decade long teaching position in Germany and later as a lecturer at the University of Hannover and eventually to teaching/instructing/lecturing positions at the University of St. Thomas and University of Houston. Travel was a mutual enjoyment she shared with Eric that took them to six continents. Kathy received additional joy from her interaction with and entertainment of friends. On such occasions she ably demonstrated her considerable hosting and culinary skills. Her smile came easily and was reinforced by her love of plants and flowers. A good glass of wine and most of all, her love of animals, especially the many family pets, were also reasons for that smile's appearance. A memorial service will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 527 S. Houston Ave. Humble, TX 77338 at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. Reception/luncheon will follow in the Family Life Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathy's name to Best Friends, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah, 84741-5000.
