Our beloved Mother, Kathleen Joan Till, born June 11, 1929, passed away on December 21, 2021, in the care of many who loved her.
Katie’s life began growing up in Chicago, with her parents Salvatore and Lucille Quagliano, and her siblings, Eileen, Louise, Dick, Roger and Carol. Family values and her catholic faith were the foundation in her life, and her passion to care for others led her to become a registered nurse, and later part of an incredible team in the Operating Room at Shriners Hospital for Children in Houston, until retiring in 1986
She had an adventurous spirit that would take her away from all she knew in Chicago at a young age to attend nursing school in New Orleans, where she met her southern husband and life-long love, Bob.
Katie and Bob married in 1953 , and settled in Houston , she raised five sons, she ensured our faith was a priority , and she embraced all the joy, trials and struggles that came with raising five boys - from little league to college , she helped guide each of us ,always supportive in our chosen direction.
I fondly recall the memories of our family camping vacations, holiday celebrations and even making our five lunches every morning for school. She always made time, attending our sporting games, cooking for family of seven, birthdays and the week of Christmas baking. Our faith and education was a priority for her with encouragement, all five sons graduating from Strake Jesuit and College.
Katie was very artistic, and enjoyed crafts, baking and painting, those fortunate have her artwork hanging in their homes.
She adored her 10 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She loved watching their sporting games and painting with her granddaughter.
After retiring, Katie and Bob, traveled the world, and spent years exploring the country in their motor-coach with friends from the Blue Bonnet Travelers.
I recall when we would come home from college, watching home movies over the Christmas break on vintage 8 MM reel film, childhood memories she made special for all of us.
She will always be remembered for her adventurous and strong spirit, her love of family, her faith, her passion for caring of others, and at least for me, her sauce and meatballs. When I think of her I always smile.
In loving memory, Mike and Jo Helen Till , Dr. Mark Till, Rob and Anne Till, Steve and Gina Till , Paul and Terry Till, Grandchildren, Robert, Alexandra, Michaela, Chelsea, Ryan, Nicole, Brian, Cooper, Zach and Jesse, Great Grandchildren, Jack, Rowe, Jackson, Brooks, Braxton and Knox.
