Kathrina Louise Goetz

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert; stepfather, Lloyd; stepbrothers, Jack and Jim; father-in-law, Robert; mother-in-law, Mary Anne; brothers-in-law, Mike and Bob. She is survived by her husband, Rick; daughter, Anne; son, Eli; her mother, Mary; brother, Randy (Vivian); sister, Judi; stepsisters, Deena (Roger) and Darlene; in-laws, Lynne, Debbie (Dave), Ronny (Kim), Randy (Jill); along with various aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Kathi was born in Valparaiso, IN on April 4th, 1968, but spent most of her childhood in Independence, KS. She graduated from Independence High School in 1986 as a member of the band and cheerleading squad. After high school, she attended Kansas State University, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and established a passion for all things Kansas State.

After graduating in clothing and textiles from Kansas State in 1990, Kathi spent nearly 20 years as a retail store manager but found her true calling in 2007. She became the Director of First Steps Ministry at Westside Family Church (Shawnee, KS), which kicked off 17 years of ministry which had a positive impact on thousands of peoples’ lives.

Kathi married Rick in 2003 and adopted Anne and Eli in 2010. She was an amazing wife and mother who always demonstrated unyielding strength through unconditional grace and love.

Adoption and foster care ministry became a passion for Kathi and Rick. Upon moving to Houston, TX in 2014, Kathi connected with Entrusted Houston. With Kathi as a member of the board of directors, Entrusted Houston, has grown into an essential tool for Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) within Harris County and surrounding counties.

Kathi never strayed too far from her retail and church leadership callings. She worked part time at the Little Eclectic House (Cypress, TX) and was a volunteer leader and part time staff member at CyLife Church (Cypress, TX).

Her bright, energetic, and loving spirit will be missed by all who had any interaction with her.
