Kathyrn Aldridge of Houston, Texas went to be with the Lord on December 23, 2018. Born in Notasulga, Alabama, October 10, 1923, she grew up with her brother Gaston and mother in a small, but tight knit farming community. Starting at an early age, she witnessed business dealings and the relationships governing producers and suppliers as her grandfather provided most of the farm machinery necessary to the surrounding communities in order to turn their raw commodities into marketable intermediary goods. Perhaps that led her to marry to the entrepreneurial C.T. Aldridge, with whom she would have one daughter and enjoy a marriage lasting nearly 50 years. A quiet soul, she persevered as the stalwart counterpart to her boisterous husband. Kathryn was an accomplished homemaker excelling in home crafts and cooking. Her passion was taking care of their daughter Linda. Kathryn was an accomplished seamstress, and handmade many clothes for her daughter. Something which many of her daughters friends had a degree of envy to have such well tailored clothes. A devoted letter writer, she maintained weekly handwritten correspondence with friends and family for decades keeping them updated on current family events. Later in life, she would reflect fondly upon her time and friends earned in the Reeltown schools. Throughout her life, she remained even keeled and kept her emotions close, never complaining, disparaging, or loosing words on feelings.
Preceded in repose by her parents Ellis and Valeria Averrett, her loving husband C. T. and daughter Linda Wells, brother Gaston Averrett, sister-in-law Nadine Averrett, and nephew Wayne Averrett.
Survived in life by her son-in-law, Richard Wells of Katy, and grandsons David Wells and wife Bianka of Katy, and Charles Wells and wife Caroline of Richmond; and great grand-children Gavin and Megan.
During the most recent years, Kathryn was blessed to have the loving care and companionship of three of God’s angels, her care-givers and companions, Hawa, Nancy, and Watta.
Kathryn will be laid to rest Saturday, December 29 at Memorial Oaks Cemetery after a 2pm service.
