Katie Mae Dye Brewer, 91, entered into Heaven on Saturday, August 29, 2020 in Houston, Texas. She was born on February 24, 1929 in Warren County, Georgia to John Alewine and Emma Dora May Dye. She had two brothers and one sister. She married John Powell "Pete" Brewer Sr. on November 19, 1947. They were blessed with five children: Dora, John, Gail, Charles (the GA kids) and Jeffrey (the TX kid). They were married for 43 years and 2 months before he passed away on February 7 , 1991. Katie loved going on her casino trips, karaoke, bowling, and our annual Georgia trips to visit family for our reunions. She made numerous trips to Vegas with family and friends for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband John Powell "Pete" Brewer Sr., her siblings ( Archie Dye, Alvis Dye and Gypsie Stricklin), her daughter, Gail King, and her son-in-law, Terry Wilcher.
She is survived by her children Dora Wilcher, John and Karen Brewer, Charles and Debbie Brewer, and Jeffrey Brewer. She is also survived by 15 grand children; 31 great-grand's; 7 great-great grand's; numerous nieces and nephews. Her last surviving sister-in-law, Ruby Dye, son-in-law Frank King and of course cannot forget her faithful feline companion, Callie the cat.
A visitation for Katie will be held Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Chapel of Eternal Peace at Forest Park, 2454 S Dairy Ashford, Houston, TX 77077. A funeral service will occur Friday, September 4, 2020 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, 2454 S Dairy Ashford, Houston, TX 77077,
(Due to CDC occupancy limitations, the funeral service will be reserved for family members.) A graveside service will occur Friday, September 4, 2020 at 9:30 AM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077.
