

Kaylon Leon Sowell, age 74, passed away in Humble, Texas on September 7, 2013. He was born on July 16, 1939 in San Augustine, Texas. During his lifetime, Kaylon was in the Army – stationed in Germany for 3 years. He returned home and took up the carpentry trade. For 30 years, he was a Frame Contractor. He loved to coon hunt and take care of his goats. He provided very well for his family through the good times as well as through the bad times.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Parker Sowell; daughter, Lurinda Kay Sowell; his parents: Oliver Issaac Sowell & Estella Rena Hickman Sowell Dent; brothers: Estel Oliver Sowell & Issaac Milton Sowell; and sister, Joyce Spinks Hancock.
Kaylon is survived by sons: Tearle Leon Sowell & wife, Rhonda of Tarkington Prairie, Texas, Kelvin Wayne Sowell of Plum Grove, Texas, & Kaylon Leon Sowell II of Plum Grove, Texas; daughter, Cherie Jane Sowell Beltram & husband, Scott of New Caney, Texas; sisters: Charlcie Foster King of Many, Louisiana & Mamie Caples of Anaheim, California; brother, John Elton Sowell & wife, Janet of Splendora, Texas; granddaughters: Kristina Thompson, Deidra Marie Sowell, Kristen Amber Ortiz & husband, Chance, Marsha Jean Sowell, Jessica Rene Sowell & Kennedy Sloan Beltram; grandsons: Kelvin Wayne Sowell, Jr. & wife, Jessica, Kaylon Leon Sowell III, &Tearle Justin Sowell; great grandsons: Landon Trey Ortiz, Braydon Shaw Ortiz, & Kolton Wayne Sowell; and many other relatives & friends. Kaylon will be greatly missed by all. Yes, Kaylon knew the Lord, God in Heaven; he was baptized in Ellendell Assembly of God Church in Memphis, Tennessee.
