Kenneth Thomas Finnerty Jr.

Kenneth was born January 2, 1948, at Elizabeth General Hospital, in the City of Elizabeth, New Jersey, to parents Kenneth Thomas Finnerty, Sr. and Margaret Anna Dineen Finnerty. His family moved to Houston when he was 13 years old. He attended Spring Woods High School in Houston, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Linda Sue Melson Finnerty. They married on February 1, 1969, and remained married for 55 years until her passing on May 22, 2024.

He had a career as a Computer Operator, working overnight shifts for many years for Teledyne, Baker Hughes, and Schlumberger. When he retired, he took on his most important and beloved roll as an adoring Paw-Paw to his grandsons, Brendyn and Evyn. In addition to his love for his family, he had many passions throughout his life, including music, sports, comic books, video games, old movies, and all things Disney.

Kenneth is survived by his son, Steven Finnerty; his daughter, Amy Hernandez; his Son-in-Law, Roberto Hernandez, Jr.; his grandchildren, Brendyn Hernandez and Evyn Hernandez; his sister, Kathy Curry; and his granddog, Buster Finnerty. He will forever be missed and loved. Perhaps he’s just pinin’ for the fjords?

The Committal Service will take place at Houston National Cemetery on Tuesday, July 21st, 2026, at 12:30 pm. It will be followed by a Reception from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at American Heritage Funeral Home, located at 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038.
