Kenneth D. Heathcock passed from this earth in the early morning of Monday June 16, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janell and son Sean, along with two beautiful granddaughters, Reganne Janel and Grace Annette.
Kenneth was the 4th of 12 children born to J W and Ina Mae Heathcock in Mobile, AL. Both of his parents predecease him as well as 2 sisters: Linda Bowman and Judy Hielscher. He loved and was loved by all his siblings. He is survived by 9 brothers and sisters, Glenn Heathcock of Katy, TX; Gary Heathcock and Cathy of San Antonio, TX; Ron Heathcock and Betsy of Sugar Land, TX; Wendell Heathcock of Double Oak, TX; Lanny Heathcock of Katy, TX; Beverly Watkins of Katy, TX; Teresa Strother of Katy, TX; Cindy Wyeth and Pete of Austin, TX; and Robin Heathcock of Lake Jackson, TX. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews along with many other family and friends.
Kenneth grew up in Alief, Texas after his family moved from a small farm on Dairy Ashford in January 1966. He graduated from Alief High School in 1968 and spent several years working for McCabe Powers driving and demonstrating utility service trucks, all over the country, though his real love was carpentry and construction. He joined his father, helping him build and remodel both commercial and residential projects for over 20 years in the Houston and surrounding areas. He was also very mechanically inclined and loved old cars, owning several at one time or another including a 1964 Lincoln Continental, 1972 Morris Minor, 1937 Chevrolet Truck and others. There wasn't an old car or truck on the road he could not identify along with telling you what was under the hood!
His granddaughters enjoyed growing up on the small ranch he and Janell owned in Richmond/Rosenberg area for over 20 years, running a few head of cattle and continuing his construction and remodeling business. One of his greatest joys was going to watch his granddaughters cheer, play volleyball, basketball and softball. He would drive all over Texas to go to a game - he missed very few! He also did this for his nieces and nephews as they were growing up.
Kenneth was a rock and proud supporter of his family; Direct and Honest, but always Fair. He was funny with a witty and dry sense of humor. With the proper encouragement, he could make you laugh until you cry! When the situation dictated, Kenneth was all business and NEVER left his family or friends without the help they needed. Although he didn't have a church home, he loved the Lord, had faith, beliefs and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
He will be remembered and honored on Sunday, June 22 at Forest Park Westheimer with visitation beginning at noon and service at 1:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, Kenneth requested folks donate to their favorite Military or Veterans Charity in honor of his wife's and family members' service. He supported SemperFi/America's Fund (thefund.org) and Military Moms and Wives (militarymomsandwives.org)
