Kenneth Gale McCann Jr.

July 5, 1931May 7, 2014

Kenneth Gale "K.G." McCann, independent oilman and native Houstonian, passed away at the age of 82 on the 7th of May 2014, after a short illness. Kenneth's college education began at the University of Texas in Austin and was interrupted in the early 1950's by the Korean War where he served in the Pacific. Upon his return he continued his education at the University of Houston. After, he was employed by J. Ray McDermott and later worked as an independent oil producer. Kenneth will be especially remembered for his quick wit, spirit of adventure and the tenaciousness that allowed him to achieve top rankings in many endeavors.

Kenneth was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter, gourmet cook, wine enthusiast and "foodie" before the term was coined. He was also a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, Houston Court 136th.

Kenneth is predeceased by his parents K. G. "Red" McCann and Anna Ruth McCann; brother Michael McCann, D.V.M. He is survived by his wife and soul mate, Aleta; daughter Kathy Lombardi and husband Michael of Lahiana, Maui Hawaii; brothers, Gerald Wayne McCann and John Douglas McCann. Joe and Merrill Hafner of Houston, and Stephen and Michelle Trosclair of Slidell, of Louisiana, in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Rick Goldberg, Dr. Jim Muntz, Dr. Manuel Reyes and Dr. David Samuels.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jim Bocell, Philip Ernester, Joe Hafner, Eddie Moses, Carol Richey, and dear friends who predeceased Kenneth in death are Jack Helfman, Blair McCarter, Randy Shawell and Jerry Wendell.

The memorial service is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 14th of May, at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston, where the Rev. Chad T. Martin, Associate Rector for Evangelism and Worship, is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Bagby Parish Hall.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that contributions in memory of Kenneth be directed to Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., TX, 77030; or the charity of one's choice.

To all the McCann family, My thoughts and prayers are with you all in our loss. Although I can not be with you in person, due to my husbands health issues, I am there in spirit. Hold this in your heart that I know beyond a shadow of a doubt the Dad has gone to be with the Lord. Although we will miss him tremendously we can rejoice knowing that, "Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard and which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him." May the God of all peace and comfort guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. With love and compassion, Mike and Kathy (McCann) Lombardi, Lahaina, Maui, HI.

Jerry, Doug, Delyse, & Kelley, and all the families and friends. This is a great loss for all of us, but we are thankful for the promise of Jesus' salvation and I know that my Father is now free from pain and suffering in the presence of the Lord. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I wish peace, strength, love and comfort for all of us left behind. Love you all.
