Ken was born on June 25, 1937, in Pontiac, Illinois, to parents Frauline Hogan Rosenberger and Kenneth J. Rosenberger. Ken's parents then moved the family back to Nacogdoches, Texas, in his pre-teen years where his mother’s McCuistion and Hogan families held deep ties for decades.
Ken grew up in the post-Depression years and early World War 2 years, with a strong work ethic and Christian faith instilled by both his parents. He graduated from Nacogdoches High School and continued his education at Stephen F. Austin State University. Ken graduated with a degree in forestry with a secondary certification in teaching.
Ken married the love of his life, Janice Smith, in 1959, and their marriage produced four children. Ken and his young family's first home was in Amarillo, Texas. They moved shortly thereafter to Lufkin, Texas. From there, Ken and Janice then moved to Houston, to one of the first master planned suburban communities, Sharpstown.
He enjoyed taking the family to weekends and vacations at the family cabin at Lake Sam Rayburn, with early morning fishing trips and afternoons water skiing on the lake, coaching Little League baseball and YMCA football. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying several elk hunts in Colorado with his father-in-law, Lee Smith, as well as a bucket list halibut fishing trip to Alaska.
After a successful career in building and construction materials sales, including Sales Manager positions, Ken founded his own company, Gulf Coast Roofers and Builders Supply, in 1986.
Ken and Janice enjoyed traveling to Australia, England, Italy, New York City, Hawaii, and taking European river cruises. He enjoyed attending Houston Oilers and Houston Astros sporting events with Janice, and, especially spending time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ken faithfully served his church, First Baptist Rosenberg, as the committee building chair. He and Janice were regular attendees and very active members of the church. Their faith was a deep and abiding characteristic of their lives.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Jackson Rosenberger and Frauline Hogan Rosenberger, and his brother, Wilmer Edmund Rosenberger.
