Kevin Ray Massey Sr. was born on October 26, 1971, in Houston, Texas, to Margaret Washington Lacy and Rayfield Massey. He accepted Christ at the age of twelve, joining New Commandment Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor David Foster Jr.
Kevin was an exceptional and dedicated employee, consistently recognized for his hard work and commitment. He served for twelve years in the Houston Independent School District’s Transportation Department, five years at Lone Star Overnight, and concluded his career as a devoted family provider at MLD Pathology, where he worked for eight years. No matter where he was employed, Kevin left a lasting impact and was deeply loved by all his colleagues.
Kevin was a devoted family man and a person of integrity, deeply loving his wife, Roberta Massey, with whom he shared twenty-eight years of marriage. Kevin was a proud and devoted father to his children; Rayshanda Massey, Kevin Massey Jr., and Rashard Massey. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, always putting their needs above his own. Kevin’s character was evident in the love he extended to others, raising two family members, Andrew Jones and Claiborne Jones, as if they were his own sons. He loved his family deeply and would do anything to bring them happiness.
Kevin was the CHAMPION and better known to his friends and family as “Your Champion KRM1”. He had a deep passion for sports, music, nature, and science, and made it a priority to make those around him feel loved and appreciated. Outside of work and family, he enjoyed participating in fantasy football, where he earned the first-place title five times. (He always generously gave his winnings to his wife, Roberta!) Kevin was also a proud fan of the Houston Texans, Rockets, and Astros. He always rooted for H-TOWN!
Kevin lived by the ‘98% rule,’ which meant he strived to experience 98% of his days on earth with positivity and gratitude! Almost every day after work, if you asked him how his day was, he’d reply with a cheerful ‘98%.’ His optimistic spirit was contagious, and there is no one who could compare to the love and impact he had on his family, and others around him.
