Kim Diem Chakalis

Kim Diem Chakalis of Katy, TX passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 72. Born on November 2, 1952 in Hue, Vietnam she was the daughter of Thuyet Van Doan and Dieu Cam Tran who preceded her in death.

Kim lived a loving life full of kindness, happiness, strength and devotion to family and was the beloved wife of Deane Chakalis with whom she shared 27 wonderful years of marriage.

Kim is survived by her stepsons John (Raul), Blake (Callie), Richard (Miranda) and Shane and five step grandchildren, Ian, Grayson, Brody, Claire and Sophie.

She also leaves behind her brothers and sisters Thanh Doan & Nhung Nguyen, Kim Nhuan Doan, Trung Doan & Anh Nguyen, Kim Anh Doan, Kim Phuong Doan, Thanh Doan & Yen Huynh, Kieu Nga Doan & Tho Le, Kieu My Doan & Hoa Tran, Kieu Phuong Doan, Kieu Tram Doan & Long Phan, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Kim loved to travel with her husband and their date nights together. Spending precious time with the family was so important to her. One of her dreams was to own her own business. She built her nail salon/spa “Lotus Nail & Facial” just south of the Galleria, which she enjoyed operating for many years before retiring.

Kim will always be remembered as a strong woman who was loving, sweet and kind and always had a big smile for everyone. She had an infectious genuine smile, a huge heart filled with love for all, and a true spirit of adventure.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kim’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or think of a memory you may have of Kim with that big smile and hug she gave you.
