He grew up in Alexandria, Louisiana and some early years in San Gabriel, California before ultimately ending up in Houston, Texas where he graduated high school and began college and his adult life. He started working in the plumbing design and engineering world in December of 1973. Kim worked 50 years in Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing design world. Later in his career focusing on plumbing design, receiving many certifications and accolades from all facets of the industry. Holding many positions within the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) organization, being President twice, a board of directors, VP technical position and others. He was very proud of the work he did in our community for the surrounding school districts and colleges, high rise buildings, hospitals, shopping centers and even designed the estate and offices for His Majesty of Saudi Arabia. Kim was very dedicated to his career and always gave back by mentoring and training the next generation of engineers. He retired from design engineering on December 31, 2022.
Kim was a devoted family man and an avid outdoorsman. When he was not out playing golf with his closest friends and family, he was either, bird hunting, fishing, or tinkering in the garage. Kim enjoyed travelling and scuba diving, often going to some of the remotest places in the world, while always seeking out unique architectural designs and history. In the summers he enjoyed time at the lake house boating and cooking out on the grill with family. If he was watching TV, you would catch him watching a race car build it show or the history channel for his love of anything historical.
Kim was diagnosed with a 2nd round of cancer in June 2022, which was 14 years after his original diagnosis. His melanoma spread very quickly and metastasized throughout his body. He tried various treatment options for his cancer which often made him very ill, yet he worked until 20 days before passing as he wanted to “keep busy”. Now he is spending his time with his beloved wife Sharon in heaven as they rest in peace together forever.
Thank you for all of the outpouring messages from friends and co-workers with warm and thoughtful messages as they were read to him in his last hours and put a smile to his face.
