

Kim was born on January 26th, 1972 to the late Shirley Agnes Wington and the famous Calypsonian Singer Choy Valentine Wington (AKA Chiang -Kai-Shek). She was born and raised in Claxton Bay, Trinidad & Tobago, and grew up her with her two younger brothers, Richard and Randy. Kim graduated with honors from Cova Government Secondary School in 1990, then went on to work as a bank clerk at the Republic Bank in San Fernando for several years.
In 2000, Kim married Hayden Smith and moved to the United States. In Philadelphia, PA, Kim and Hayden raised his two children Kristian and Brianna, before having their daughter Kayden in 2003. While raising her family, Kim continued her education pursuit in nursing, and became a registered nurse in 2006, specializing in Pediatric nursing. In 2011 she divorced and moved to Houston, Tx where she raised Kayden and continued her nursing career. Kim worked in private nursing and home healthcare and was dedicated to protecting and caring for countless children.
Kim lived a healthy lifestyle, incorporating her Chinese heritage and home remedies in her everyday living. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, including chatting with family and friends on Facebook, reading, snacking and watching True Crime shows and movies.
During the first week of August, Kim suddenly and quickly grew ill before seeking medical attention at HCA North Cypress. Kim passed away on Monday, August 12th, 2024, at 52 years old. Kim is survived by her daughter, pride and joy: Kayden Amaya Smith, stepchildren Kristian and Brianna; brothers Richard and Randy, sisters-in-law Vanessa and Alicia; nephews Malik and Brandon; nieces Brandi and Leeana; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Kim was loved by many and will be missed by all.
A visitation for Kim will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A a celebration of life will occur Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM. A a celebration of life reception will occur Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A visitation will occur from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Cr, 9149 Highway 6 North, Houston, TX 77095.
