

His career as Computer Programming Technology spanned over 40 years with Railway Express, American General Insurance and Aramco in Saudi Arabia where he and his wife, JoAnn, lived for eleven years.
Kirby was a member of First Baptist Texarkana and attended Stonebriar Community Church since moving to Frisco, Texas in 2012.
He loved being outdoors, having a garden and having a beautifully landscaped yard. Because of his humanitarian spirit, love of God and family and his countless hours of volunteering in his community, a proclamation will be documented in the City of Frisco records.
He was preceded in death by his parents Andre’ Eugene Bunel and Ruby Mae Keels, grandmother Ethel McCune, brother Norman Hymel and sister-in-law Sandy Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, JoAnn Bunel, daughter Kelle Bunel Alexander and husband Robert, son Dr. Kirby Bunel Jr. and wife Diana. Brothers, Andrew Bunel and wife Mary Ann, Kenneth Alexander and wife Judy, Curtis Thompson and wife Judy, John Thompson and sister in-law Jerry Hymel. Four grandchildren, Meredith Bunel Clark and husband Dillon, Kirby Luke Bunel, Isabella Lee Alexander and Zoey Mei Alexander.
Kirby was very active in his church and served in many roles including being a deacon, serving on the finance committee and volunteering with the children’s after school program. He loved people and life. He was a strong Godly man who was a leader for his family. We know he is with his Lord and Savior, pain free and whole. We will miss him every minute of every day until we see him again.
Visitation will be 1:30-2:30pm, service will be 2:30-3:30 on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Brookside Memorial Park Cemetery, 13747 Eastex Fwy at Lauder Rd, Houston, Texas 77039. Reverend Clyde Turner officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Hill Children’s Home, PO Box 1177, Fairfield, Texas 75840.
