She will meet her parents Manuel Hernandez Cabrera and Elia Chong Cabrera in Heaven. Kleanthe will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Manuel (Lourdes), Victor (Ramona), Norma, Richard, Rudy (Alicia). Kleanthe graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston, Texas.
Kleanthe was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She raised her kids as a single mom and provided the best life she could for them. She treasured her two children Ruben Armando Gonzalez and Rebeca Gonzalez Aguirre. She had a loving son in law, Armando Aguirre. She especially loved her role as “Momo” as she gained that famous nickname by her grandson Donovan Seth Garza, who many have said “he has her loving heart.” Other grandchildren include Ruben Gonzalez, Andrea Michelle Gonzalez, Vanessa Gonzalez and Allison Gonzalez.
Kleanthe was employed and a member at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church (“OLG”) in Houston, Texas. She was a devout Catholic and she loved her “Guadalupe Family.” Prior to her employment with OLG she worked at Raul Yzaguirre School for Success in Houston, Texas. The people at Raul Yzaguirre became her family as well. Kleanthe had a passion for volunteering in her community. She volunteered as a parent throughout her kids’ school years including their extracurricular activities. Momo never turned down a volunteer opportunity just to be next to her grandson during his school events when he attended St. Augustine Catholic School. Her volunteer services continued at Raul Yzaguirre and OLG. Kleanthe never met a stranger and knew the life story of everyone from the person behind her in line at Fiesta to her seat mate on a trip.
Kleanthe grew up spending summers and holidays with her family in Tampico, Mexico. She had a passion for the outdoors and swimming. Everyone knew that she loved to dance and was full of laughter. A laugh you could recognize anywhere and a laugh that became contagious. She loved to celebrate every occasion and it didn’t even have to be a holiday. She would make up a reason to celebrate and handed out something to everyone in attendance. She was known for carrying around her bags and all were curious what was in the bags.
Her favorite saying was “Never give up you can do anything you put your mind to.” She was a strong mom, mother-in-law, sister, grandma and friend who fought until the end.
The family wishes to thank those who cared for her during her last days. A Memorial Service will be August 14 2020 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Houston, Texas.
