Kong Taing passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018, at the age of 76 years.

He was born on February 10, 1942 in the province of Preyveng in Cambodia to Peng and Evemor Taing. The couple had five sons and one daughter, and Kong was their youngest child. In 1962, he married his wife, Ny Kaing, and raised four daughters.

In 1968, Kong acquired land in Cambodia from his parents, which he used as farmland for corn and peanut crops, enabling him to make a living and provide for his family. He survived the Khmer Rouge regime, where he escaped to Thailand and later traveled to America in May 1979 to start a new life. His family of six settled down in Houston, Texas where they continue to reside.

In Houston, Kong found a career working at the Houston Intercontinental Airport as a machinist and sign maker, spending 25 years there before he retired in 2007. In his spare time, he helped at the family’s seafood restaurant. After retirement, Kong spent his time helping at the family’s donut shop business, playing with his grandchildren, and volunteering daily at the local temple. He loved working outdoors and was often found working on a project around the house, mowing the lawn, or trimming trees.

Kong was a simple and hardworking man with a gentle soul that was easy to love. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ny Kaing, daughters Sok Houng, Sok Kheng, Sok Muy, Sok Kieng, their spouses, and 8 grandchildren.

He was a father, a grandfather, an uncle, he was generous and kind to the people he loved. It will have marked our life and we will not forget never.
We are overwhelmed by this sad news and are with you wholeheartedly.

Kong Taing was a nice brother for Ly Tang (Taing ), a nice uncle and grand-uncle for all his nieces and nephew. We haven't seen him opfen cause of the long distance between France and the State. But all times we see him, he made everyone happy. His smile, his joy and his good mood make us all happy.
His niece Kim Lang will always keep in mind the good time they spent together when they were young (play together, go to school together or when he carried her on his bicycle it was hard, but always try to do his best).
We won't never forget him.
