

He pursued his education at Pingtung Agricultural College before continuing his studies abroad in Japan at Waseda University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He later moved to the United States and obtained a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Houston.
Mr. Philip Chung was married to the late Brenda Siu Chiu Liu, the mother of his three children, until her passing in 1995. Together, they shared an entrepreneurial spirit and developed businesses in real estate and healthcare.
Mr. Chung devoted decades to serving the overseas Chinese community, earning great respect for his generosity and commitment. He actively supported disaster relief and environmental efforts in Taiwan. For over 40 years, Mr. Chung was deeply involved in the Hakka community, actively participating in local, national, and international Hakka Association activities. He served multiple terms as president, dedicating his time and leadership to preserving the culture and strengthening community ties. Through his community involvement, he met Mimi Wu Hung. They married in 1999 and enjoyed traveling throughout North America, Europe, and Asia with family and friends.
Mr. Chung had a lifelong love of gardening. He took great pride in building his own vegetable garden structures using pipes and wooden planks, generously sharing the fruits of his labor with those around him. He enjoyed good food in the company of his loved ones. Above all, he found joy in spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Mimi; his children, Phyllis Kwok (Kai), Michael Chung (Wendy), and Maria Chung Lin (William); and his beloved grandchildren: Caleb (Tina) and Kyra Kwok; Aidan, Brendan, Kaitlyn, and Ellison Chung; and Hudson and Ava Lin. He is also survived by many extended members of the Chung and Liu families.
He will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, devotion to family, and the joy he brought to those around him.
