Kyunseok Kim (김균석), age 70, of Houston, Texas passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 while receiving medical treatment at Memorial Hermann Hospital. He was born May 8, 1951 in Mokpo, Jeollanam-do, South Korea to his father Cheolhong Kim, and mother Jungja Choi
He was the eldest of 2 sons and 2 daughters. He married his beloved wife, Hyunjoo Shin at age 26 years. They later gave birth to their daughter, Kayoung Kim, and son, James Jongkap Kim. He graduated from Jeonju Middle School and Jeonju High school, and later went on to study Economics at Hanyang University. After graduation, he served as the Korean Red Cross Blood Bank Director and Red Cross Hospital Vice President until he retired. He was a responsible, loving, caring man, who worked hard to provide for his family and serve his community. He was well-respected by all those around him. He was also a spiritual man who attended Yeouido Full Gospel Church in Seoul, South Korea.
Kyunseok Kim was a devoted father, husband, son, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything. He was thankful, and felt blessed when he and his wife finally arrived to Houston on September 18, 2021 to permanently reside with his son and his family. Although short-lived, the four months he had to spend here in the United States with his family, was special and will forever be cherished.
Kyunseok is survived by his beloved wife, Hyunjoo Shin; his daughter, Kayoung Kim and her husband, Pastor and Dr. Sung Hyun Kim, and their children, Yu Min and Yu Jun Kim; his son, James Jongkap Kim and his wife, Dr. Claire Hyaekyong Kim, and their children Jayden, Casey, and Jacob Kim. He is predeceased by his mother Jungja Choi, and father Cheolhong Kim.
