Dương Diễm Lan

Lan was born on April 25, 1944, in Lang Son Province, Vietnam, to Mr. Lam Gia Duong and Mrs. Nham Thi Nguyen. Lan was the second of eight children. The Duong family moved to Saigon, Vietnam in 1954, where Lan met Quang Kim Ngo, her future husband. The two married on January 11, 1966.

Quang and Lan started their family and subsequently raised five children in Saigon- Huy Jeff Ngo, Hoang Steve Ngo, Chau Amy Ngo (Amy Lacy), Dieu Rick Ngo, and Tu Tracy Ngo (Bekker).

On April 30, 1975, the Ngo family fled Vietnam and immigrated to the United States. Lan earned an Associate Degree in Electronics from Condie College in Campbell, CA (San Jose area) in 1980. The Ngo family moved to Houston in May 1980, and Lan soon began work at Compaq Computers as an Electronic Technician.

While accomplished professionally, it was in her personal life where Lan left her mark. She was a caring and supportive wife and an attentive and loving mother. Lan treated family, friends, and colleagues with amazing hospitality. Well-known as an amazing cook, she warmed hearts and stomachs alike with her delicious meals- ranging from banh xeo to pho to flan.

More recently, Lan was a doting grandmother to her seven grandchildren. She was always willing to help as a babysitter, never forgot any of her grandchildren's birthdays, and attended almost all life events ranging from birthday parties to graduation ceremonies.

Lan is survived by her five children, son-in-law Garrett Bekker III, six grandchildren- Devon Lacy, Hannah Ngo, Matthew Ngo, Alyssa Ngo, Garrett Bekker IV, and Emme Bekker, three sisters- Ung Co Duong, Mai Diem Duong, Quynh Diem Duong, two brothers- Thong Gia Duong, Tien Gia Duong, and numerous nephews/nieces. Lan is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers- Hung Gia Duong, Cuong Gia Duong, and her grandson Connor Lacy.

We will always remember her, love her, and honor her legacy.
