Larry was the beloved husband and best friend of his wife of 41 years, Wanda Thompson Purnell. He was also a devoted father of Omar J. Purnell.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda and son, Omar. He is also survived by his only sister, Beverly Purnell Barber, his Aunt Evelyn Wooley, in-laws, a host of cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Larry served in the U.S. Navy, active duty from October 1969-October 1973. While in the Navy, he was awarded the National Defense service medal. Larry worked in the oil and gas industry in the US and countries abroad. He retired from the oil and gas industry in 2018. His favorite hobby was working with his hands, repairing and rehabbing houses. He will be greatly missed by his family & friends.

A funeral service will occur Friday, June 18, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Fallbrook Church, 12512 Walters Rd, Houston, TX 77014. A committal service will occur Friday, June 18, 2021 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
