Laura K. Phillips

On November 1, 1940, Floyd King and Ada V. Fobbs were blessed with a beautiful baby girl they named Laura Virginia King. She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized at Canaan Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. W. L. Davis in Stonewall, Louisiana. She graduated from Second Ward High School in 1960.

Laura was united in Holy Matrimony to Charles Phillips in 1963, and within this union, they were blessed with four children. She moved to Houston, Texas that same year. She later became a member of Highland Heights Missionary Baptist Church, where she was dedicated for many years.

Laura worked as a dedicated caretaker at Lincoln Green ResCare for over twenty-five years until her retirement. She loved providing and caring for her patients. Her patients loved her immensely. On some holidays, she would take them on a field trip and bring them home where she cooked them a grand meal.

Laura was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. God decided to call his angel home on January 26, 2024.

Laura is preceded in death by her parents; Floyd and Ada V. King; sister, Arry (Thelma); five brothers; Chester, Robert, Charlie, Robert Herman and Sam.

To cherish her precious life and memories, she leaves behind her husband of many years, Charles Phillips Sr.; her four children, Jacqueline Joubert (Gabriel), Charles Phillips Jr. (Sheila), Kentrich Phillips, Jessie Foreman; her five sisters, Lula Lockhart, Floydie Mathis, Ethel Martin of Shreveport, Louisiana, Ola Rucker (Richard) and Ruthie Lee Ford; her five granddaughters, Brandi, Shaporreya, Shavon, Quinesha, Yameshe’la; grandsons, Codrick, Gabriel Jr., Khoston and Steven Jr.; great-grandchildren; Leilani, Liam, Rylee and Ryder; Godsons; Clintodd and Eric; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation for Laura will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. Immediately followed by the funeral service, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Interment at PARADISE NORTH CEMETERY, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088.
