LaVane was married to Emil A. Beltz for 54 years. LaVane worked as a Secretary at The US Railroad, Schlumberger Oil Co. and for George W. Strake at Strake Oil Company until she pursued her most treasured career which was being a mother. She wanted 3 children spaced 4 years apart and that they all got to go to college. God answered her prayers and blessed her with 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Friendswood Texas.
LaVane inherited her grandmother’s beautiful singing voice and from a young age sang at many churches in and around the City of Houston and at Ellington AFB during WWII. She was involved in the Lutheran church playing organ and directing children’s choirs. She loved to work with her hands especially sewing and quilting, and stitched many beautiful family heirlooms. Her home was a reflection of her and she worked hard to decorate it with the things she loved. She showed her love by entertaining family and friends and cooked many delicious meals and desserts, especially anything chocolate! Her greatest desire and joy was to be surrounded by her family.
LaVane is preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Emil and great granddaughter Evelynn Rickabaugh.
LaVane is survived by Son Douglas Alan (wife Libby) Beltz, Daughter Tamara Ann (husband Dennis) Smith, Daughter Melinda Carol (husband Paul) Petkovsky, granddaughters Ashlee Elizabeth Beltz and Corey Blair (husband David) Rickabaugh, grandson Aaron William (wife Courtney) Schmitz and granddaughter Hannah Claire Petkovsky; great granddaughters Lily and Caroline Rickabaugh
