Lavern W. Alexander passed away at home on May 23, 2018. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 22, 1932 to Lavern and Augusta Alexander. Lavern graduated from Thomas A. DeVilbiss High School and he began his own photography business. He was President of both Alexander Productions and Baker Clothing, Inc. He was involved in the Environmental Protection Agency and was on the Board of Cordelia Martin Health Center.
In 1978, he moved to Houston, Texas working in the men’s clothing business beginning with Harold’s in the Heights area. He was manager of Allan Gee for five years, Men’s Wearhouse for 15 years, and JoS. A. Bank Clothiers for 10 years.
He retired in 2011. Lavern was always decorating the interior and exterior of his home in celebration of the Christmas season. In January, he would entertain guests with fine cooking skills on Neighbor’s Night, Co-worker’s Night, and Friend’s Night.
Lavern is survived by his brother Wayne, and sister-in-law, Diane of Toledo, Ohio. His nieces Melanie Alexander of Blair, North Carolina. Also, Brandy and her husband William Newby and great niece Ella.
Also, he is survived by his friend and caregiver, David Harmascinski, Nancy Lynn Harmascinski, her husband, Robert Ferrell, and their sons, David, Michael Ferrell of Conroe, Texas.
