Larry was born March 11, 1929 to Pauline and Walter Englander in Cliffside Park, New Jersey. In 1938 the family moved to New York City. In 1946 he entered City College of New York’s evening business school. At about the same time, he joined Shell Oil Company and in 1951, soon after the start of the Korean War, he entered the U. S. Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant in 1953 and resumed his employment at Shell and pursuit of his BBA which he received in 1955. In 1954 he married Rose Leventer and in 1957 and 1961 respectively his daughters Julie and Carole were born, completing what he considered his dream family. Unfortunately tragedy struck in 1973 when his wife Rose was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis which ultimately led to her untimely death in 1986. He continued his career at Shell until retiring in 1991 as Manager of Distribution Planning. His time with Shell took him from New York to Los Angeles and finally to Houston which remained his home.
Following retirement Larry enjoyed traveling and took up golf, playing up to 3 times a week until about a year before his death. He was devoted to his family and his dogs, Baby and Emily.
In addition to his parents and wife, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Ron Berry and Carole and Bruce Boatner; niece, Fran; nephew, Ed; and great nephews Noah and Seth.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers, especially Fayka Salem, who made his final months as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
