The Fletchers are so sad to just learn why we haven't had any funny emails from Mitch in a while . "Mitch" was a truly a genuine friend to us and everyone he met. His laughter was contagious as was his wit and charisma that would always light up any room. He was always willing to help anyone with whatever the need. When several members of brentwood Methodist wanted to honor our pastor Howard Olds with a book of his "Faith Breaks " , I knew I could count on Mitch to help get it done. Every one could always count on him. For many years he was "one of the boys of Flatrock " to help participate in tennis tournaments and golf tournaments. A great friend and we can't think of him without a smile and funny story which we all will forever cherish. May God Bless you and all who he brought such joy and happiness. All your Brentwood Tenneessee friends and the "boys of Flatrock " are sorry for your loss but thank God for the memories.

Ramona and family, we have just learned about Mitch; we are so sorry!  So so many memories…Halloween in Fountainhead; Super Bowl videos in Fountainhead; dance competitions;  surprise guest dance jokes at dance competitions;  Kentucky vs. Duke jokes and ribbings; his stories, jokes, and laughter;  our political emails; cheering for each other at dance competitions;  BUMC; and the list could go on. Ramona, I ran into Jack Fletcher today and was asking about you and Lawrence.  He contacted me today with the information that Lawrence has passed.  Bill and I are so sorry to hear this news.  Lawrence had a personality that was bigger than life and we have so many wonderful memories or our times together in Fountainhead. We competed on the floor together for ten years. When I told people how much I loved those who worked so hard to, and usually succeeding at, beating me, my thoughts always went to Lawrence. A fierce competitor on the floor, and a great joy to be with every other moment. Kind, funny, welcoming, and one of my favorite parts of every competition. What a sad news to hear of the passing of this mountain of a man. Mitchell will be remembered by his charm and warmth by all of those that were lucky  to experience him through this live journey. My condolences to Ramona, their children and all their loved one.

Lawrence is one of the most delightful and gracious men I ever met, anywhere.  He and Ramona graced the ballroom floor and any group of people they were among. He is already missed!

Life is the greatest gift that God has given us.
Death is only a bridge towards eternal life with God.
Certainly, heaven is rejoicing for another soul has finally reached his true home.

There are very few people one can point to and say that that person truly changed their life but Mitch was one of those people in my life!  He hired me for a job I was marginally qualified for and created an environment allowing  me to succeed.  I’m close to retiring from that job 30+ years later and I often wonder what my life would have been like had Mitch not taken a chance on me.

Thank you Mitch - yours was truly a life well lived!

Lawrence was a season ticket holder of mine that made my job worth it. He always offered his appreciation to me, and I could never possibly say than you enough to him for his kindness, patience and support of his beloved Houston Astros. He always greeted me so kindly in every call or every email, and I was fortunate to have met him last year at a ballgame and share our love for the Italian heritage that we shared. The world will miss him, and I will miss him, too. My condolences to the Mitchell family and all who knew him.

Lawrence,  I will miss you.  You were a wonderful uncle. I will miss your funny jokes, and beautiful outlook of the world.  You are and will be forever loved and missed. Love you always Scott & Julie

The Mitchell’s have always been Whelan favorites going back to Brentwood days. When Lawrence entered a room ,the energy and joy level immediate jumped many notches.  He and Ramona took fun and humor to a new level.  Our memories are many and the stories will live for generations to come.

In  2003 several ballroom dance students traveled from Nashville to Ft Lauderdale to see our dance teachers Shalene Archer (Red) and Ben Ermis win a National Title. This was an extraordinary moment in our Ballroom dancing.  Mitch had all of us in Red shirts cheering on our teachers. Mitch was a positive force and so much fun to be around.  We appreciate all the times we shared!
