She attended catholic school in her early years of education and later in life enrolled in a local trade school to learn Oilfield Electronics. After graduation she worked for several companies such as Texas Instruments and Baker Hughes in Houston, Texas. Her career lasted for over a 10 year period. While working for Baker Hughes in the late 90’s she met her current husband Walter Foots and they were united in marriage in December. They resided in Houston for several years before purchasing a home together in Baytown, Texas Waterfront District.
At the early age of 7yrs. Lawretta was baptized on May 8,1948 by her parents received her communion & confirmation and professed her faith in Jesus Christ at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in East Houston. She was a member for many years at St. Mary’s Catholic Church located in LaPorte, Texas. She attended services on a regular basis with her husband until she was no longer capable due to her health conditions.
Mrs. Foots was an active donor to the SPCA for many years and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Resale. Her love for animals was never ending. She loved traveling, watching classic movies, as well as reading and playing card games. She also enjoyed antiquing and visiting garage sales. She graciously opened her home to family for gatherings and holidays. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life 12 PM on Monday, July 6, 2020 at her personal residence in LaPorte, Texas surrounded by family and loved ones. She was 79 years old. She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Mabe Sr., daughter Debra Joyce Lowry, mother Madalye Wolf, stepfather Edward Wolf, grandson Andrew Lowry, brother Randell Wolf, and her beloved pet companions Beignet, BJ, and Linus.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her remaining children Gerry Lowry, Lois Woolley, Michael Lowry, Phillip McGonagill Jr. and Tina McGonagill-Singh; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Lawrence L. Mabe & sister-in-law Pamela, Edward P. Wolf Jr.; sisters, Emarita C. Busic, Mellie M. Varns and brother-in-law Steve, Marnell L. Gillespie and brother-in-law David; devoted family members and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her 2 close pet companions BO & recently adopted Rocky.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00-6:00PM on July 9, 2020, at Brookside Funeral Home in Houston, Texas for viewing and limited visitation. Followed by service from 6-8pm. Burial service is scheduled for 9:30AM on July 10, 2020 at the Houston National Cemetery located 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038. The service providers and family do request that all attendees maintain social distancing and wear a face covering to adhere to the local safety guidelines in place concerning the COVID-19 Pandemic.
