Lee Woodroof April 22,1920 - July 18, 2022
Born in Niles, Michigan as Anabel Lee Ridley, she spent her childhood on her family farm, growing up during the depression as the oldest of 4 sisters. She would later move to Texas, eventually landing in Houston where she would live the last 60 years until she relinquished her life.
Never known to be a follower, after she graduated from high school she enrolled for business school to learn typing, shorthand and bookkeeping. She used these skills in various secretarial jobs whilst raising her children through the challenges that WWII presented. In her 102 years she saw the world change being born mere months before Women's Suffrage, living through two World Wars, the passing of Civil Rights Act, space travel to the moon, the Vietnam War and the invention of the internet. She was a world traveler who visited countries such as Russia, China, Spain, France as well as lived for several years in Scotland. She passed along her wanderlust to her grandchildren, along with her gift for artistic talents. She was fluent in Spanish, liked to golf, bake, paint and kept her mind spry by doing the local newspaper's daily crossword puzzle.
Her family will be celebrating her wishes and having a grave-site service as they lay her ashes to rest beside her beloved husband in Edinburg, Texas.
Preceded by her husband, William Donovan Woodroof Jr., her daughter Mary W. Finch
