Leo Delma Barr

August 16, 1922October 18, 2013

Leo Delma Barr was born August 16, 1922, and entered eternal rest October 18, 2013. Leo served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1942-1946, earning two Purple Hearts at the battles of Guadalcanal and Saipan. On May 10, 1947, he married Willie Lee Hill, his wife of 66 years. He served as a Houston Firefighter from 1953-1981, rising to the rank of District Chief. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fay and Herbert Barr; brothers, Ernest Barr, Harold Barr and Henry Barr; sisters, Rosamond Shull and Katherine Moreland. Leo is survived by his wife, Willie (Billie) Barr; son, D.R. (Randy) Barr and wife Windy Barr; grandson, Andrew Barr and wife Renda; grandson, Owen Barr; granddaughter, Cara McConnell and husband Alvin; great granddaughter Trista McConnell; brother David P. Barr; sister Fay Bell McCarty. Leo made an everlasting legacy of his love of God on all those who knew him. His strong Christian faith shone through all he did. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend; he will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, 921 Gessner Rd, East Tower, 8th Floor, Houston, Texas, 77024.

So sorry to hear of Chief Barr passing, I hope that when he gets to HEAVEN he will find my Daddy (Curtis Morris) and tell him I love him and miss him.
