Leo Eugene Peterson was the seventh child born to Willie and Bertha Peterson January 21, 1947.
Leo went to be with the Lord on March 10, 2024, with family beside him during his departure.
Leo graduated from Phillis Wheatley High School in 1965. Shortly after High School he met and married Amelia Joyce Rose, the love of his life. Leo had three children. Irvin Eugene Peterson (deceased) Andre Eugene Peterson, and Leigh Nechelle Peterson.
He was a former member of Good Hope Baptist Church located in Houston, Texas. He earned a degree of a Master Mason of Lodge B in 1986. Leo was employed by Teamster Union Local 988 where he retired after 30 years of dedicated service. Leo loved the excitement and adventure that his job provided him. He was curious about everything and never missed a chance to venture out for excitement, knowledge, and opportunity.
On one occasion while vacationing in 1973 he and Amelia were touring Washington, D.C. and visited the old Senate Building. His curiosity landed them to a line entering a courtroom. The line led them to the trial of the Watergate Hearings. They were permitted to enter the courtroom where they sat for an hour and witness the hearings. Leo was an avid rancher. He could hardly wait for deer season each year. He was the proud owner of a Ranch in Hempstead Texas, while simultaneously owning and operating a 20-acre spread in Harwood, Texas. Daddy often leased his property to neighboring residents where they also hunted different wild game. After retirement he spent much of his free time busy traveling between the two ranches attending to his different properties and often with his grandchildren in tow. His grandchildren will remember their PawPaw as a grandfather who provided a foundation their fathers lacked. A foundation of love, support, and guidance. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 54 years Amelia; sister Mrs. Dorithy Meyers; sister-in-law, Joann Rose; nieces and nephews; Evette President, Tammy Peterson, Christopher Peterson, Rhonda Peterson, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
