

Leola Leonard Cutrer was born November 6, 1931 in New Orleans, LA to Harry C. Leonard and Blanche Sempe Leonard. She was the youngest of three sisters. She married Joseph D. Cutrer (J.D.) on May 6, 1950, in New Orleans. They were long-time residents of Chalmette, LA. Leola started her teaching career at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Chalmette teaching second grade. She later obtained her BA and Master of Education degrees. Leola loved working with children for many years in the St Bernard Parish School District.
In 2005 Leola and J.D. moved to Destrehan, LA where she substituted in many schools. In 2017 she moved to Houston TX where she made many friends playing bridge and other card games. Leola always loved teaching her new friends all sorts of games.
Leola passed away on Wednesday June 15, 2022 at home in Cypress TX. She was preceded in death by her husband- Joseph D. Cutrer Sr., her daughter- Cheryl Ann Cutrer, her son- Joseph Daniel Cutrer Jr., her father- Harry C. Leonard, her mother- Blanche Sempe Leonard, and her two older sisters- Harriet Hebert and Lorraine Martin. Leaving to celebrate her legacy are her daughter- Sharon James, her son-in-law- Alan James, her grandsons- Jason Cutrer and Kirby James and her great granddaughters Courtney Cutrer and Lindsey Cutrer as well as a many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Service at 11:00 am on Wednesday June 29th at Brookside Funeral Home Cypress Creek, 9149 Highway 6 North, Houston TX 77095. A reception will follow from noon to 2:00 pm at Brookside.
