Reverend Leon Jones

He was introduced to church by his mother and

grandmother, Laura Powell. In his young adult years,

he hauled wood until he started with HL&P in the

late sixties. He insisted on three duties: provide for

his family, drive a truck and learn everything that

had to do with electricity.

He attended and served at Evergreen MBC where

Rev. Edwards was the Pastor. He and his wife were

neighbors. During the many years at Evergreen, he

went to Biblical College while still providing for his

family and being a dedicated member. He was the

proud Pastor of Power Light MBC. He served the

Lord, taught the members and loved every minute

of it. He died quietly on June 25, 2024. He is

preceded in death by his wife of 62 years,

O. V. Jones; daughter, Diane Edison; and grandsons,

Amos, Kendrae & Rio Jones.

He leaves to cherish his daughter, Betty Evans;

grandchildren, Fred Jones, Lisa Jordon, Kelly

Richardson, Smith Jones, Nicholas Winder and

Justin Jones; goddaughter, Myysha Edwards;

and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews,

the Givens family, Fellowship Ministers and people

he spread the word of God to from a young man to the end.
