Leon Porter

Mr. Leon Porter left behind earthly labors to receive heaven's rewards on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at the age of 82. Beloved husband of 62 years to Pearline Johnson Porter, father of Gwendolyn Porter, Carolyn Ann Porter Byrd, Timothy Leon Porter, and grandfather of Koby Singletary, Ivy Simmons, Robert Woodard, Victor Woodard, Dante Montgomery, Justice Porter, and Caleb Porter. Born to Frank Porter and Margarite Ford in Angleton, Texas, Leon was the brother of James Nurle, Willie Ford, Luverta Ford, and proceeded in death by Betty Ford, Billy Anthony Ford, Freddie Ford, and Marie Herron. Leon was one of the first resident of Carverdale Community in Houston, Texas, a founder and dedicated member of Woolridge Chapel AME Church; and was the business owner of L&P Janitorial Services. Mr. Leon Porter, affectionately known as "Pops",will have a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, with a visitstion from 9:00-10:50A.M., followed by funeral services at 11:00A.M. Both services will be held in the Garden of Hope Chapel of Paradise Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Paradise North Cemetery.
