Leona Schifani Schroeder

Leona Schifani Schroeder, native Houstonian went to be with the Lord on Jan. 27, 2015. She was a kind and caring person devoted to her family and faith. She touched the hearts of everyone she met and never met anyone she didn’t like.

She was preceded in death by her son, Mark and parents, Peter and Lena Schifani.

Leona is survived by her husband of 58 years, RJ and children, Daryl and wife Carol, daughter, Cheryl and husband Dave Richardson, grandchildren, Mike and wife Heather, Kristen and husband Ryan Heller, Lauren Schroeder, Matthew and Natalie Richardson, Sarah and Sydney Schroeder and brother Steve and wife Salli Schifani.

Leona was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin H.S. and a member of the Brigade, graduate of Rice University and The Hermann Physical Therapy School. She enjoyed playing tennis, skiing, running marathons and traveling. Leona was a past president of Hou. Ladies Tennis Assn, active Board member of Hou. Tennis Assn, past officer of Space City Ski Club and volunteered at the Hou. Livestock Show & Rodeo for the past 20 years helping the youth of Texas. Leona loved watching her grandchildren at sporting events and was a Eucharistic Minister at her church.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc, Houston, TX 77024 on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM with a reception immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in her name to Covenant House, 1111 Lovett Blvd, Houston, TX 77006.
