

“Lester L. Welch Jr, also called “Leslie” “Troy” and “Opa” completed his journey here on earth and was ushered into his heavenly home by our Lord Jesus Christ on December 9th 2024. He passed in peace at his home in Houston, Tx. surrounded by his loving wife and family who prayed for him, sang to him, and cared for his every need. He was born on August 9th 1946 in Houston, Texas to his parents Narcille and Lester. Troy graduated from Galena Park High School in 1965 and briefly attended University of New Mexico after serving in the army. He served in Vietnam in the 101st Airborne division from December 1970 to August 1972. A true patriot, Troy was honored to have served his country and was proud to be part of the brotherhood of combat veterans and as a member of the NRA. He married the love of his life Pam Leach
in 1976 and was the proud father of 4 children, Troy Jr, Kimberly, Brandi and Christina. For 48 years they built a wonderful life through all the good and bad times sticking by one another's side, loving and supporting each other, enduring until the end.
Troy was a member of Copperfield Baptist Church where he loved sharing the testimony of his walk with the Lord with others. He was known to be a witness of the goodness of God to his doctors, nurses, or anyone he met. One of his hopes was that all he crossed paths with would know and love the Lord. He enjoyed studying his bible, biblical prophecy and historic figures as well as his family history and ancestry, the Native American people and the history of our country which he loved. Troy loved traveling our great and beautiful country and visiting the Rocky Mountains with his family, gathering with friends and family was always when he was happiest. He was welcomed home for eternity and reunited with his loved ones by hearing “well done, good and faithful servant!” In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother James Welch and his son Troy Welch Jr. and his daughter Kimberly. He is survived by his wife Pam Welch, his sister Cindy McGee, many nieces and nephews, son in law and daughter Jonathan and Brandi; son in law and daughter Travis and Christina Colville; Grandchildren Jacob and Madison Toups.
A celebration of life for Lester will be held Friday, February 7, 2025 from 12:15 PM to 1:15 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. Following the celebration of life will be a committal service with military honors from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038.
