

She united in Holy Matrimony with Calvin Volcy on April 24, 1947. She accepted Christ as her lord and savior in her life at an early age. She later in life became a proud member of Fifth Ward Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a member of the nurse’s aide board. Lettie Volcy had a love for children so much she became the neighborhood babysitter. When Lettie’s children were young, she was a “stay-at-home-mom”. It was usual for women to stay home with the children while their husbands worked. Lettie was an exceptional wife and an amazing and humble mother. She cared deeply for her family and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She was always the first to offer help. She regularly helped women in the neighborhood and became the caregiver to a host of children in the neighborhood. And she always ensured that every child who crossed her threshold was safe, healthy, and happy.
She was preceded in death by her late husband Calvin Volcy Sr.; father Hamon Lewis and mother Mary Goree: sons Calvin Jr. Tyrone; Travis; Clarence (Melvin);and daughters Zemphery and Ruby. Her brothers and sisters Mason; Hamon Jr.; Ethel;RubyLee; Amos; JessieMae; Mildred;George; Hezekiah, sister Christell.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Volcy (Seaton), and sons Vanice and Christopher Volcy and her sister Ruby Serina Lewis.
Her most meaningful and fun-loving moments were when she spent quality time with her grandchildren, Lettie enjoyed doing things that she loved cooking, gardening, teaching and taking care of children and her family. She enjoying the company of others and eating chocolate. She is caring in every sense of the word and leaves an unmatched footprint on the hearts and minds of those who were blessed to know her.
She leaves to cherish the love of her life Calvin Volcy; her children: Linda Volcy (Seaton); Vanice Volcy; Christopher Volcy. A host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and a host of relatives & friends.
A visitation for Lettie will be held Friday, August 27, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Fifth Ward Baptist Church, 4300 Noble Street, Houston, TX 77020. A funeral service will occur Friday, August 27, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 4300 Noble Street, Houston, TX 77020. A committal service will occur Friday, August 27, 2021 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Paradise Cemetery North, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088.
