Liandro "Lee" Garza Sr., aged 78, passed away on July 2, 2024, in Houston, Texas. Born on February 27, 1946, in Mission, Texas, Lee lived a vibrant and full life marked by his commitment to family, his service to his country, and his diverse interests.
Lee served honorably in the Air Force as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War, dedicating four years to his country in a role that demanded both courage and resilience. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career in the oil and gas industry, where he worked as a computer programmer for 35 years. Lee also served nearly a decade with the Harris County Sheriff's Office as a communication officer, showcasing his versatility and commitment to public service.
An alumnus of PSJA High School and the University of Houston, Lee was well-educated and continually applied his knowledge and skills throughout his various endeavors. He was an active member of One Church, where he participated in community and spiritual activities that enriched his life and those around him.
Lee was a man of many passions, including photography, carpentry, reading, and watching Westerns and National Geographic. His love for photography was particularly notable, as he was seldom seen without a camera, ready to capture the moments that mattered most. His storytelling, marked by humor and a knack for capturing the audience's attention, made him a memorable presence in any gathering.
He is survived by his loving wife, Blanca Elizabeth, and their children: Brenda Lee (Richard Hernandez), Sandra Lee (Aaron Pardo), Liandro Jr. (Cheyenne), and Daniel Lee (Noralba). Lee was a proud grandfather to Abigail Pardo, Nestor Lee Vasquez, Emily Hope Hernandez, Lauren Nichole Pardo, Branden Lee Garza, Kiara Lee Garza, Aaron Pardo Jr., Analee Andrea Pardo, Daniel James Hernandez, Eleanor Grace Garza, Allison Marie Garza, and Daniel Lee Garza Jr., as well as great-grandchildren Ivy Lee Garza, Kylo Lee Vasquez, Ezra Anthony Leal, and Koa Kai Vasquez. He also leaves behind his siblings Fidel Garza, Noelia, Aurora, Rodrigo Jr., and Imelda. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Rodrigo and Lilia Garza, and his siblings Lydia Garza, Jose Garza, Maria de la Luz Garza, Gloria Parson, Octavio Garza, and Eloy Garza.
Lee's life and legacy will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew him, for his vibrant spirit and his enduring contributions to his family, country, and community.
A visitation for Liandro will be held Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:15 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A funeral service will occur Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 12:15 PM to 1:45 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A committal service will occur Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 2:15 PM to 2:45 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
