Growing up, Lillian often took care of her younger sister, Martha. As adults they were best friends. After graduation Lillian worked for Bell Telephone Company. She met Claude Robinson when he returned from Germany after WWII. They married in September 1947 and lived in Fort Worth, TX. Their first daughter, Donna was born in 1949 and Carol followed in 1952.
In 1957 the family moved to Houston, TX and opened the Bellaire Skating Rink on Chimney Rock. This was a successful business and many families enjoyed skating there. After Claude's death in 1982 the skating rink was sold.
Lillian loved to volunteer at Ben Taub Hospital and later she managed the gift shop at Polly Ryan Hospital. She married Edwin Willingham in 1984 and together they enjoyed traveling and sightseeing. Lillian was a gifted quilter and over the years she made quilts for her daughters and grandchildren. She also loved gardening and was often awarded "Yard of the Month" at her home in Pecan Grove.
Lillian was a strong Christian and with her young family attended Richmond Plaza Baptist Church in Bellaire. When she married Edwin, they were members of First Baptist, Richmond. After Ed passed away Lillian lived near her daughter Carol and attended Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Sugar Land.
