Linda leaves behind her devoted and loving husband of 54 years, Thomas McCrory, daughter, Jennifer Newton, son-in-law, Christopher Newton, Lola to her grandson Jack Newton, and daughter Meredith McCrory. Linda is survived by her mother, Rose O'Brien, her sisters Jane Day, Alexandra O'Brien, Antonia Wyatt, Mary Beth Jacoby, and her brother, Matthew O'Brien. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by her dear father, Eugene O'Brien.
Linda was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 6, 1949. Her family moved around frequently for her father’s work with General Foods, but she found herself back in White Plains for high school and met the love of her life, Tommy McCrory in Port Chester. It all started with a kick under the table. They married in 1970 and their new family of four moved to Houston in 1976.
Linda was a compassionate nurse for 36 years and worked at several hospitals including the Institute for Immunological Disorders and MD Anderson Cancer Center. She also was very proud to be part of a nationally published paper in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management in 2003.
Lola was a beautiful soul inside and out and will be greatly missed. Her pride and joy was her family. Her home was always warm and welcoming. She was always willing to help family and friends in time of need with her presence, delicious food, or a hand-made piece of jewelry or book mark with a blessed Miraculous, Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. Benedict or Divine Mercy Medal. Her Catholic faith influenced her life choices, relationships and contribution to the community and gave her great comfort during her illness.
