Linda Raven Valdivia went to Heaven on April 5, 2023. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. R.F. Raven on September 3, 1943, her mom's birthday, in Austin, Texas, and her family lived there until Linda was in the 3rd grade, when their father's work took them to Harlingen, Texas. There she finished elementary and junior school, and graduated from Harlingen High School. Afterwards, Linda went to Durham Business School in Houston, where she completed courses that earned her a diploma in Business Applications.
In 1963, she interned at a commercial real estate company in Houston in their computer department. Her work there led to her next and best years of her career from 1964 to 1996. She worked with Thermal Supply Inc., in their computer department. The most enjoyable years there were spent in inventory control. Thermal Supply was a distributor for many consumer goods but specialized in residential, commercial, and industrial HVACR equipment, parts, and supplies. She finished her career with similar organizations as Thermal Supply.
On September 16, 1989, Linda married Doug Valdivia in a log cabin museum in the Houston area. They were married for 33 years.
Her version or example of patriotism was that she could and did blow out stereo speakers listening to John Philip Sousa at full volume (don't know why). She enjoyed country music as well- her favorite being "Blue Eyes" by Willie Nelson. She volunteered at the SPCA of Houston for several years, and loved her own pets dearly. She enjoyed car racing, specifically the open wheeled car racing series that delighted crowds in Downtown Houston. She made every year that they were here. Linda enjoyed watching TV so much that she kept one in the bedroom (Doug was not a fan) guess who won that one. There was one thing she hated: fishing, but she let Doug go fishing as much as he wanted.
She was a professed and confirmed believer in God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ. Principles that directed her and Doug include John 3:16 and Colossians 3:13-19, both passages can be found in the New Testament of the Holy Bible.
Every person has a reputation: Hers was the endless love and determination she had for employees who consulted with her about their stores inventory and potential issues. And my friends she was good at it and fun to talk with. She really loved those folks so much she married one of 'em (lucky guy)
Know that Linda was a rock spiritually and physically from beginning to end and this cannot end without acknowledgement of that. She thoroughly enjoyed when the nurses came for her while bed bound, and appreciated all of the supportive prayers from everyone concerning her illnesses. She and I would like to say that the care and devotion from Fairbanks Assisted Living and Capstone Hospice was priceless. The folks at Dignity Memorial never missed a beat in making these tough times easier. A special thank you as well to Kirk Tooley and David Goger, two quality individuals, for formulating her internment services.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents and her sister. She is survived by her husband Doug, her brother Ronnie and wife Dot, and other members of their family.
