TIME TO BE BORN:
Lionel Starks was born, December 2, 1936 to John Henry Starks and Hattie Mae Curry in Belleville, Texas (Raccoon Bend).
A TIME TO LEARN:
Attended Austin County Schools in Belleville, TX, and later attended Texas Southern University.
A TIME FOR REVERENCE TO GOD:
Lionel was baptized at an early age at Pleasant Grove Baptist church Belleville, TX, and later attended Highland Gardens Church of Christ.
A TIME TO WORK:
At 17, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he later became a Master Sergeant and had a E4 ranking. He became an Aircraft mechanic as well as a licensed Pilot. Also, being musically inclined he joined the United States Air Force band where he received many accolades and traveled the world and played in Japan and several other states. While in Japan, he learned Japanese and spoke it fluently.
He retired from Rohm and Haas chemical plant after 25 years of service.
A TIME FOR LOVE AND DEVOTION:
In 1969 he met and married the love of his life, Rachael Harris and was faithfully married for 53 years until his death. From that union, five children were born, Sparkl Anita, Henry, Frederick, LaCheryl, and Vachael. Family was so important to him and he made sure everything that was said and displayed there was a message in it.
A TIME TO REST:
Heaven’s door opened on Friday, December 8th, to record the name Lionel Starks. The Father in Heaven stopped by our home and moved our loved one from earth to home.
TO CHERISH HIS MEMORIES:
Lionel is survived by; his wife of 53 years, Rachael; mother-n-law, Ella Singleton; daughter,: Sparkl West-Pruitt (Abram), LaCheryl Winston (Clifton), Vachael Starks (Carl); sons, Henry Starks (Ershica), Frederick Starks (Loretta); 11 grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
A visitation for Lionel will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. Funeral service will immediately following. The committal service will be on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Houston National Cemetery 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston, Texas 77038.
