IN THE CARE OF
Brookside Funeral Home & Memorial Park
Lois Ann McGill Boyd, aged 82 years old, made a special occasion out of this Mother’s Day, May 8, 2022, when she celebrated the morning with her family here on earth and the rest with her family in heaven. She was born in Humble, TX on February 2, 1940 to parents Inez Merchant McGill and Willie Marvin McGill.
Lois graduated from Aldine High School and received a Bachelor of Arts from Sam Houston State University. It was in college that she met Charles, who would become her husband of 60 years, and they were married on March 24, 1962. They spent the first few years of their marriage in Pearl Harbor where Charles served as a flight officer in the US Navy.
Lois began her teaching career in Aldine ISD. She taught fourth grade at Northland Christian School for years and had a passion for working with children with dyslexia-related learning issues. She was also a devout member of the Church of Christ. She attended the Kinwood and Bammel Road Churches, and most recently the Church of Christ in Champions. Her church family and her spiritual relationship with God were major motivating factors in her life.
She had a way of balancing adversity with silliness and her infectious sense of humor. Her unique “granny-isms” were notorious among her grandchildren, who loved her dearly. During the last years of her life, she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and encouraging them to be lifelong learners, to be engaged in their communities, and to love the Lord with all their heart.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Billie Newsome and Betty Burke, and brothers Jim “Sonny” Lee and Weldon McGill. She is survived by her husband Charles, son Brent, and daughter Teri. She also leaves behind grandsons Daniel, Ryan, Spencer, Nicholas, and granddaughter Katie. She had one great granddaughter: Eden Boyd. She will never be forgotten. We now have yet another special reason to celebrate Mother’s Day, and those who remain will carry her memory on.
There will be an opportunity to offer condolences to Charles Boyd on Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Unlimited Care Cottages, 25707 Budde Rd. Spring TX 77380. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 at the Church of Christ in Champions, 13092 Cutten Rd. Houston, TX 77069 beginning at 10:30am. Graveside service will follow later after the memorial service at 3pm in Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway Houston, TX 77039. The memorial service will be live streamed through the church’s Facebook page.
