Lois was born February 5, 1932 in Madisonville, Texas to Luther E. and Irma Williams. She grew up in Brenham, Texas and graduated from Blinn College in 1953 where she met, then married Lester Salter (“Salter”) in 1954. They had three children, Donna, Sherry, and Russell Salter.
Lois, Salter, and their children lived in Houston and moved to Sugar Land in 1974. Lois worked a short time for HISD (Brookline Elementary), then became an Expeditor for Heat Research and Capitol Pipe and Steel. Lois, Salter, and Russell spent many years camping and fishing on Lake Livingston year-round. After Salter passed away in 1986, she began working for Dow Chemical and worked there until she retired in 1994. She lived in Luling from 1994-2009. This is where she learned to play dominoes (42 and Mexican Train) and enjoyed cruising and taking scenic bus trips with her friends. She returned to Brenham to live in 2009 where she enjoyed visiting with family and playing dominoes and cards with her new friends she met while living there. She moved to New Braunfels in 2020, then to the Independence Hill Community in San Antonio in 2022.
Lois loved visiting with family and friends, beating Russell and Terri at Mexican Train Dominoes, playing Bingo at Independence Hill every Tuesday and Thursday, and playing cards with her friends after dinner. She loved thrift stores (Higgins in Brenham and Kathy’s Resale in Canyon Lake), where she would shop until Sherry couldn’t carry her treasures anymore and made her leave. She also loved playing slots at Coushatta Casino and would visit there twice a year.
Lois is preceded in death by her Husband Lester Salter; Parents Luther E. & Irma Williams; Brothers J.W. Williams and Vernon Williams; Brothers-in-Law Norman Tindell and Ernest Roach.
