Lola Maye Allen

Lola Allen was an Accountant for the Ben Milam Hotel and, later, a Hotel Manager for the William Penn Hotel, both in Houston, Texas. She owned and operated Allen’s Landing in Matagorda, Texas and, after retirement, joined the Corps of Engineers for 10 years. She was a sixth generation native Texan and a member of The Daughters of the Republic of Texas for 50 years, and a member of the Hotel Motel Greeters Association. She had a passion for her Texas heritage, her family, and her fuzzy four legged companions (Misty and Sissy).

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norman Aubrey Allen; sister, Audrey Jean Daricek; brother, Calvin Denver Wyatt.

Lola is survived by her son, Larry Norman Allen (May Emma Allen); daughter, Debra Lynn Allen Powell (Henry "Nova" Powell); grandchildren, Novalynn Powell Klabacka, Dea Rey Caliguri, Elizabeth Clover, Douglas Delfavero, and Chris Kogutkiewic; great grandchildren, Larry Allen Klabacka II, Devin David Gray, David Norman Clover, Valyn Delfavero, Tauryn Delfavero, and Kenley Kogutkiewicz; brother, Coy Dewayne Wyatt.

A visitation for Lola will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A burial will occur Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
