

Lora Lyn Putney, affectionately known as “Lolly” and “Grandma Lala”, was born on June 28, 1956 in Amarillo, Texas. She passed away on March 26, 2024 after a lengthy battle with COPD. Lora was the third of four children born to Ruth and Charles Henslee, and attended Tascosa High School in Amarillo. She and her family moved to Houston in 1976 where she met the love of her life, Robert Brian Putney. They were married in 1978 and would have celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on May 2nd.
Among Lora’s most endearing qualities were her generous heart, fighting spirit, and unwavering commitment to serve her family. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt, sister and grandmother who never let a birthday go uncelebrated. She loved cooking and gathering with family and friends. She enjoyed beauty in nature especially the mountains and the beach, hiking, and floral arranging. She loved all animals, especially her beloved French bulldog, Poppy.
Lora is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Charles Henslee; her brother, Kerry Henslee; and her sister, Karen Mitchell. Lora is survived by her husband Brian Putney; her daughter, Christina Higginbotham and husband Brad; her son Robert Putney, Jr. and wife Pamela; her daughter Ashlee Wykoff and husband Joshua; her brother, Gale Henslee and partner Samantha Scott; her aunt, Joy Smith; four grandchildren (Hailey, Colten, Jacob and Elijah); brother-in-law Richard H. Putney and wife Ann; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life reception for Lora will be held from 2 PM to 5 PM on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Brookside Funeral Home - Champions, 3410 Cypress Creek Parkway, Houston, TX 77068.
