

Loren Charles Wilson of Houston Texas died Thursday February 23, 2012. A native of Dixon, Illinois, he was the son of Sumner and Marie Wilson, attended Dixon schools and graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1950 following his discharge from the U.S. Navy where he served honorably during WWII. Loren was an employee of Houston Lighting and Power Company as a Computer programmer/systems analyst until 1986 when he retired. An avid music lover he sang in the Houston Seniors Choir and Spring Woods Baptist Church for many years. He was also a talented and accomplished piano player.
Loren is survived by his wife Mary Ellen (Dixon) Wilson of 56 years, three children and their spouses, Robert and Sherry Wilson, Kenneth and Nancy Wilson and Melinda and Mike Shipp. Five grandchildren, Matt and Mandy Wilson, Emily and Chris Scott, Sarah and Erin Wilson, and Trinity Shipp as well as extended family and many wonderful friends. Loren was a kind and soft spoken man who loved his Lord, his family and his country and will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Receiving of friends will be from 6-8pm Monday February 27, 2012 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday February 28, 2012 at 12:30pm also at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in the Chapel. Rev. Jerry Mayfield, Pastor and friend will preside. Burial will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
