Born on July 27, 1939, in Waco, Texas, Lou Ann was the daughter of John Edmund Wallace and Sarah Dillingham Wallace. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, William “Bill”
Fridel; her parents; and her siblings Johnny, James Davis “Dee,” Murphy, Charles, Faye, Ray, and Sandra “Jane.”
Lou Ann was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her son Larry and his wife Mona, daughter Karen and her husband Henry, and daughter GayeLynn and her husband Ric. She leaves behind her grandchildren Krystle, Ric Jr., Aaron, Chase, Mark, and Vikkie. Her great-grandchildren include Kali, Ellison, Jayden, Eden, Emmary, Kash, and Teagan. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Hazel Wallace and several nieces and nephews.
A graduate of John H. Reagan High School, Lou Ann chose a lifelong path of love and service as a homemaker and caregiver. She dedicated much of her life to caring for her grandchildren and many other children, leaving behind generations of love and warmth.
In 1959, Lou Ann and Bill built a home in Houston where she lived for the past 66 years. After Bill’s passing in 2002, Lou Ann remained strong and independent, continuing to live in their family home for
another 23 years. She found joy in simple pleasures—spending time with her family, bingo nights, trips to Louisiana to play the slots, word search puzzles, and her favorite scratch-offs and lottery tickets. She was an avid fan of the Game Show Network, Wheel of Fortune, and her beloved Houston Astros.
Lou Ann’s loyalty and kindness extended beyond her family. For more than six decades, she shared an enduring friendship with her neighbors, Charles and Margaret Bukowski, who became like family to her. Her quiet strength, sharp wit, and unshakable love for her family will be deeply missed.
