Lowah Yim

Born on May 1, 1952, in Hong Kong to Shuk Ming Yim and Wai Ching Ng, Lowah spent her early childhood in Macau. She eventually returned to Hong Kong for high school before moving to the United States in the mid-1970s to pursue her education. After beginning her studies at the University of Kansas, she transferred to the University of Texas at Arlington, where she graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Lowah enjoyed a distinguished professional career, starting at a software development firm in Carrollton before moving into the Controls and Automation field in Houston during the early 2000s. Though she briefly retired, her passion for the industry led her back to the field as a Technical Consultant for an LNG company. She was a true pioneer, mastering new technologies and executing complex projects in some of the world’s most demanding environments—from offshore platforms, refineries, LNG to chemical plants across the US, Brazil, China, and Africa.

Beyond her professional achievements, Lowah possessed a vibrant spirit. She was an avid traveler, a lifelong learner, and a lover of classical music and home remodeling. Above all, she cherished her family. Whether it was skiing trips, vacations, holiday gatherings, or spoiling her grand-nieces, her family was her greatest joy. Lowah was ultimately defined by her immense generosity; she was a tireless supporter of numerous charities and was always the first to extend a helping hand to someone in need.

A memorial service celebrating Lowah’s life will be held on Saturday, February 7th, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079.

Lowah’s legacy will continue to live on in our daily lives, and she will forever be remembered for her giving spirit, pioneering passion, and devotion to her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
