Luis Menchaca was born on August 12th 1952 in Mexico but made a life in Houston. He worked at a very young age in Mexico to help bring food to the table. He later married the love of his life, accomplished buying his second home, and had four children. He worked tirelessly and made sure we always had enough for anything we needed and family vacations. We would go to Mexico every holiday and he made sure we visited both sides of the family. He would help anyone in need of it and showed his love differently for everyone. He was a hero to more than one and touched many hearts in his small acts of kindness. He was a big family man and his goal was for his kids to never forget where they came from. He loved what he did at work (powder coating) and even after all the cuts and bruises he continued to thrive. After a hard day at work, if you were to ask him how he was doing he would say good, because he was such a resilient person .He later had several grandkids and even though he was tough as nails his inner teddy bear shone through when he was with them. It’s hard for everyone who knew him to deal with his loss because of how many people he affected positively. He was the best father, son, grandpa, uncle, cousin, nephew, friend, and husband.
Silvia Menchaca was born on February 17th 1953 in Mexico and made a life with Luis in Houston. Growing up she loved school and always aspired to go further but given her circumstances she had to start working. Later she married Luis, moved to Houston and had 4 children whom she loved dearly. She was a stay-at-home mom for a while and made sure there was food on the table and the lunches were packed. Every chance they got, we went to the park with tennis rackets, roller blades, volleyballs, and played a little bit of each sport but her favorite was volleyball, and was particularly good at it. Once her kids were old enough, she decided to work again. She worked for 20 years at Ridgemont Elementary and even volunteered for PTO at times. She was a hard worker, an amazing mom, great daughter, grandma, aunt, cousin, niece, friend, and wife. She was very humorous and loved to pop out a joke here and there. She always dedicated her love and time to Luis. Once she retired, she was determined to take care of her husband, through sickness and in health, displaying her strength and loyalty. She admired that he put his kids before everything, and it strengthened their relationship even more. Their love was truly an inspiration, and they both brought the best out of each other.
