

Luis proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict while stationed in Germany. He worked a self-employed carpenter for more than 53 years and was better known as the "wood wizard". Luis loved to garden and was a self taught musician. He played instruments such as the guitar, bass, accordion and trumpet.
Luis was preceded in death by his nephew and "best friend", Joe Angel Ramirez. He is survived by his children, Luis Ramirez, Jr., Maria Isabel Ramirez-Gonzalez, Linda Renee Ramirez-Morales and Teresa Ramirez-Delgado; his 14 grandchildren, Feliciana Chavez, Antonio Sanchez, Christian Thomas Martinez, Rubin Tan, Jessica Ramirez, Amelia Ramirez, Luis Ramirez, III, Alex Garcia, Mireya Garcia, Sydney Ramirez, Julio Larios, Michael Morales, Julian Delgado and Militza Delgado; his 4 great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Natalia Chavez, Jolie Sanchez and Emmanuel Garcia; and his siblings, Herbert Ramirez, Steve Ramirez, George Ramirez, Francis Ramirez-Melchor, Lupe Ramirez-Mathis, Isabel Ramirez and Mary Alice Ramirez-Martinez; and a host of other loving friends and relatives.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 7pm until 9pm on Thursday, May 22, 2014 in the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home Champions, 3410 FM 1960 West, Houston, Texas 77068. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Brookside Champions.
